SERRV
SERRV is a self-help program started following WWII to help refugees earn a living by developing a market for their handicrafts. SERRV is now at work in over 40 developing countries around the world. SERRV provides start up capitol and helps local groups perfect their hand crafts to appeal to the US market.
All of the items are fair traded which means the producer receives a fair market value for their work and has a reliable market for the product. When we have sold $2,000 worth of product a family of four in a developing country has been supported for one year. SERRV was started by the Church of the Brethren and is now an independent not-for-profit agency.
Simpson UMW has been selling SERRV handicrafts since 1995. We purchase from SERRV, International; Mayan Hands and UPAVIM. We offer a wide variety of hand crafts and food products. We list current SERRV sales on the Simpson UMC web site. We offer jewelry, carved wood, baskets, scarves, recycled glass items, nativity sets, olive oil, coffee, tea, and chocolate.
